Striving for progress and not perfection in your home! Why it’s so important to do so!

Are you striving for progress or perfection in your home? Do you have a list a mile long of things you want to do that you want done RIGHT NOW? I’ve got that list too. But, after living here for 8 years and realizing that the list isn’t done, it keeps changing, etc. I had to learn something a long time ago.

Making progress in your home is more important than completing your home. We shouldn’t strive for perfection or completion, we should strive for good ol’ fashion PROGRESS!

how to strive for progress not perfection in your home

I get it, it’s hard when you look at that neighbor or that friend that seems to have the “perfect” totally complete house. But, what fun is that? The day that we run out of projects around here is the day I may want to put a for sale sign in the yard. Haha!

Seriously though, I love a good project and I love being able to dream up ideas and think about them long before they happen. I know we are making progress in our home and we have come A LONG way, and that is good enough for me.

Do I want our kitchen cabinets painted right now?! That would be amazing! Do I want to screen in our deck? More than you know! Do I want to re-paint my dining room and make a few changes? Sure do!

But, I’m working towards all of those things….making progress!

My biggest advice to you on this is to make a list and prioritize. This will help keep you from getting overwhelmed, and you can check things off as you do them so you can see the actual progress you are making in your home!

The projects will be there as long as you are. So, prevent overwhelm and knock them off one at a time.  Decide what’s most important to you and start from there. Just making progress on that do list will make you feel great!!

What projects are you hoping to do soon? And what projects are you going to put on the back burner for a little while because they aren’t top priority? Or maybe they aren’t in the budget right now? Let me know in the comments!

I hope this encouraged you. It’s not perfect around here, and that’s not even what I’m striving for. But I’m killing it in the progress department. Haha!

Until next time…

Stacey
